This course has taught me to be more observant in regards to the body language of others. I'm more aware of the skill involved in the performances of other actors. Watching this show, I was able to critique performances a lot better by looking in-depth at how the actors were creating their characters. I was able to see this, not as a good play with bad actors, but a poorly written play with good actors who were trying their hardest to make something of it.
I learned a lot about empathy from reading the textbook. I'm generally not a very empathetic person. I'm sympathetic, but not empathetic. This course taught me to build on my already nonjudgmental personality by observing not only people, but characters as well. I learned that you can't portray a character you don't empathize with and understand.
